The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland welcomes applications from all young brass and percussion players under the age of 21. While most players are Scottish we have, in recent years, welcomed instrumentalists from Germany, England, Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands. Competition to get into the NYBBS itself is tough and first-time applicants are often disappointed. Our three-tier system, however, means that a space is almost always available for those who don’t make it into the top band. Our Reserve Section is of a very high standard and provides first class tuition from experienced players and teachers. For younger, less-experienced players, our newly established Children’s Band is the vehicle to provide the necessary help and encouragement to instil a desire to progress in banding. The 2011 courses are expected to again be in St Andrews starting on Monday 1st August. More information will be available on the website soon. |
